AEA's TRP2 Ribbon Pre is designed from the ground up for low-output ribbon mics and dynamic microphones. With two channels of generous gain and ultra-low noise, engineers at Sweetwater have found the Ribbon Pre to be an outstanding microphone preamplifier with any mic that doesn't require phantom power. Many ribbon and dynamic microphones require more gain than high-output mics, and with a sub-standard mic preamp, you'd be turning up noise as well. The TRP2 captures the full, vibrant resolution of your low-output microphones without adding noise to your mix.

AEA's second generation TRP2 Ribbon Pre offers an impressive 85dB of JFET gain (2dB more than its acclaimed predecessor), more than enough to bring your lowest-output mics up to proper recording levels. It's also an exceptional preamp for tube condenser microphones that have their own power supply. The minimal signal path and external power supply bring down the noise floor to an almost imperceptible level. Your ribbons and dynamic mics will sound loud, clean, and open, with fuller bass response and greater sense of depth.

The TRP2 delivers a sweet, musical, and articulate sound that brings out the full potential in all your microphones. Thanks to its high 63k ohms input impedance, the TRP2 optimizes your mics' transients, frequency response, and output sensitivity, while its switchable highpass filter lets you minimize proximity effect and rumble. The rugged half-rackspace chassis is also equipped with per-channel phantom power and polarity reverse switches.
